Just a short post to share with you about the powers that Mexican food can have after a stressful day. After a highly unsuccessful day in Bali (long story) we were completely out of money (daily budget-wise, we haven’t blown the whole thing yet) and had no means of accessing our bank account as for some reason our bank had decided to block our cards – despite us already informing them of all of our destinations. I guess it’s safe that they do it… but it’s a nightmare when you’re stuck in a hot climate with no money and grumbling stomachs! Hot and hungry really is the devil combo.
Anyway after that tedious disaster, we were back up and running and decided to treat ourselves to the number one restaurant in Canggu, La Mexicana. Slightly out of our price range however since we had been forced not to spend earlier, we splashed out a bit! What a treat it was! To start we shared some large tortilla chips with home made chilli which was to-die-for.
For mains, I choose the grilled chicken quesadillas with red rice and re-fried beans whilst Gary choose the combination platter which basically had a selection of everything! Typical him! Being from Scotland, I have an unhealthy obsession with Irn Bru (and was staring to miss it) and was amazed to find that the local Fanta here actually tasted like my favourite familiar orange drink! We ate like kings and the stresses of the day just seemed to slip away…
Adios amigos!
Mucho amor
