Crystal Clear Water, Rabbits & A Full Moon Dinner

July 1, 2015

Today was the perfect day!

After researching new areas of Bali to explore, we woke up early and set off south to Nusa Dua. We headed for Geger Beach, one of the only public beaches in the area with the rest being taken up by luxury hotels. Upon arriving, I knew we had found a little piece of paradise.

We strolled our way up to the beach and were greeted by the most gorgeous view! The beaches here are incredible little post card havens with long stretches of white sand and crystal clear waters. This was the first beach we went to where the sea is so calm we could actually go for a swim. The sand beneath the sea is so soft and you can swim right out. We had a lot of fun with the Go-Pro as you can see from our pics…

Just being a fish

it can’t be better

Smiles all round

Nusa Dua is truly picturesque and you can enjoy the entire day from the confront of your lounger. Drinks and food are served to your bed and you can even request to have a massage in the sun. After Bali, we are planning to travel at a little faster pace so spending an entire day like this is a welcome treat which we certainly plan to make the most of.

Fleet Bar & Cafe

We ate breakfast and lunch at the Fleet Bar & Cafe set right on the beach with a spectacular view. I choose honey and banana pancakes (I’m developing a bit of an obsession) which were delicious as ever but this time they cooked the banana inside the pancake – odd but definitely good-odd! Lunch was a classic chicken stir fry served on loungers so we could actually be as lazy as humanly possible. The day was just so chilled and I could easily of spent a week there no problem – It took a lot of persuasion to get me out of that warm sea!

The Satay keeps barbecuing

Noodles with egg of course

Pancake obsession

Back at Canggu, we were undecided on dinner so just took off on the scooter to see where we ended up. We realised up until that point, we had eaten a distinct lack of traditional Indonesian food so opted for The Warung Dandelion, what turned out to be a truly unforgettable experience.

We pulled up outside on the off chance of managing to get a table. Thankfully we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table in the restaurants little paradise of a garden out back. The garden felt quite enchanted and was dimly lit only by candlelight (remember it gets dark early here).

I was instantly swayed by the cute little bunny rabbits who freely hop around the garden and come over and join you at your table. We were fortunate to have a traditional band playing Indonesian music whilst a dancer entertained the garden through traditional dance.

We overheard that the music and dance only happens on a full moon so were lucky enough to have been a part of such a great evening. The food was a treat also despite being unable to see it in such a dark setting (we could of been given anything) however it tasted fantastic nonetheless. We both chose the traditional Indonesian curry with chicken and it was brilliant! The only downside was the portion being quite small but the experience was defiantly worth the unplanned visit.

The night was so memorable, it felt like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland, with the March Hares included! An unforgettable day, I hope we have more like this to come!
